(With thanks and apologies to Mr G.) Just a quick post with some (devil's) food for thought. Finding oneself in __r's Public Libary the day after finishing Don Webb's "The Double" staring at a shelf of books is to be expected. When looking at where the book you think you 'should' read is not there - despite what the cybernetic card catalogue says - isn't all that surprising either. However seeing one book, then another, then another... all with titles circling around the words "Wake Up" ("how to...", etc), and one isn't in the section on insomnia and sleep disorders, perhaps indicatng something should be looked into. And then when the snooze button where's off, and you discover yourself finishing Don Webb's "Essential Saltes" on July 4th after watching a fireworks show, perhaps it's time to get out of bed and get to Work. At least discovering what Work needs to be done. Take the above for what it means to you, as I have to do the same. Just wanted to share a bit of the Wonder and Surreality with those interested. No Rest for the Wicked! X&R |

As I write this I litterally am speachless, with no pretention or exageration. Since the oil crisis (it has become an international crisis, and not just because of the speculated price of oil) began I've been following the news stories. Now 3 weeks, and on a conservative and news friendly estimate of 4,300,000 gallons total, or the not so news friendly 21,000,000 and counting (see here for the numbers) this situation is going beyond down right scary and obscene. I have no doubt that here I am 'preaching to the choir' for the most part, I have the feeling that most people who would stumble upon this would already be concerned of the long term consequences and the loss of life, however I am not familiar with how this is being reported outside of the southern Louisiana area, and even there one must need look beyond the headlines to find these stories. There is no moral judgement here on the use of petroleum based products, no judgement on the oil industry in general. I merely wish that those responsible for this disaster, loss of an immediate 11 human lives, and countless other lives and impact on the world, will be met with the fate their actions have called forth, and that the impact will be minimized and the crisis quickly contained. Here are some links, the few most important ones I'm placing close to the top. I have no doubt your lives are already stressful enough, but puruse this as you are able. - Growing Danger of Oil Slick Reaching the Gulf Stream - Spilled oil could ride current to Carolinas - Unpredictable Current Is Wild Card in Gulf Disaster Scenarios Let's hope everything works out the best as possible. |

In the following essay I explore various ideas relating to the development of the Self. These are mainly discusse in terms relating to existentialism. An early reader of this said it seemed to echo some ideas of Aristotle and Lacan, which I a taking as a compliment though I am not familiar enough with either to know how such parallels may exist. I am working on a larger piece relating to this topic, however that is for another time. If you notice similarities in your progression to what is described please let me know. If you don't please let me know as well. I am curious as to how useful this outline and line of thought may be to different people. Primary research is based on personal history and observation of individuals, first hand for the most part. Enjoy! Hope all is going well for everyone! Xeper!

Greetings! This week has been a busy one! However in exchange for your patience I will be posting 2 posts this week as I am able to. One of these, the one I originally began to post today, has taken on a life of itself and is demanding to be part of something larger. It is on a concept of 3 stages of Antinomy or 'rebellion' which lead towards the defining of the Self. This idea was hinted at in a discussion with Rassilon a while back, and has already reached a good number word count. I am looking forward to hearing thoughts on this when it is posted in a few days. The other will be some thoughts on Plato's Forms, "The Matrix", and "The Thirteenth Floor". If you've only seen "The Matrix" and not "The Thirteenth Floor" I highly recommend seeing it, for aesthetic and conceptual reasons. The new Rune-Gild site is great, and stick around for the updates you'll be seeing here in the near future! Hope everyone is having a great weekend and a good begining of the week, depending on your timezone and when you read this! Xeper! |
