According to Country 104.7, the songwriting duo created “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” before any other song for The Lion King. “I love it. Because, first of all, I don’t sing it anymore,” he continued. “We found out why. There are two reactions you want to get from an audience, or from the composer: I love you or I hate you. “You don’t sing my song”, you know? And I have them.

Since its release, this track has gained over 145 million Spotify plays, making it one of the most popular songs on The Lion King. The original version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” by The Lion King won the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
