A chief executive received an MBE in the list of New Year’s honors for service to business and charity during Covid-19.
Andy Wilson, of Castle Bytham, is Managing Director of Greene King’s Destination Food Brands division, and his efforts have benefited Greene King’s chosen charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Andy was instrumental in generating the £ 2million in 2021 by encouraging a substantial number of Greene King’s 40,000 team members to raise funds, participate in events and even run the Marathon of London in October.
Responding to the news, Andy said, “I am absolutely delighted to receive an MBE and to have helped support Macmillan Cancer Support during what has been an incredibly difficult time for charities affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Greene King is more than pubs and beer. It is about creating a heart of community and giving something back.
“Our teams have done a fantastic job raising funds this year and it has been amazing to witness it.
“I’m incredibly proud of them all and it really has been a team effort throughout.”
Andy has been with Greene King since 2013 when he initially joined as COO before heading up the company’s food brands including Hungry Horse, Chef and Brewer and Farmhouse Inns, as well as Greene King hotels.
As well as recently running the London Marathon, Andy has also cycled Greene King from London to Paris and from London to Amsterdam, climbed Mount Snowdon and competed in a Macmillan Tough Mudder challenge, as well as a number of online quiz nights. . Each time, he has personally raised thousands of pounds for the charity.

Macmillan Cancer Support has been Greene King’s national charity partner since 2012 and during this time members of the Greene King team have helped raise over £ 10million for the association.
Macmillan helps people living with cancer in all aspects of their lives, from the moment they are diagnosed, to treatment and beyond. All funds raised are intended to help nurses and professionals at Macmillan provide vital physical, financial and emotional support to people living with cancer across the UK.
