The following contains spoilers for Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War #4, on sale August 31 from Marvel.
The latest issue of Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War brings back a missing character from Fortnite, the Ice King.
Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War #4 comes from writers Christos Gage and Donald Mustard, penciler José Luís, inkers Sean Parsons and Belardino Brabo, colorist Edgar Delgado, and VC letterer Joe Caramagna. In a preview of the issue provided by Marvel, Spider-Man, Shuri, Wolverine, the Imagined, and Agent Jones traveled to Reality Zero while trying to retrieve the stolen Zero Shard. The team finds a castle covered in ice and snow and, upon entering, discovers the Ice King. “The Imaginary Order always wondered what happened to them,” says Agent Jones. “He raised a bunch of Hells on the island for a while. He fought a type of molten lava we called the Prisoner. All of this led to the Giant Monster coming loose.”
Marvel’s Fornite Crossover Heats Up
As the Ice King seems frozen in place, Agent Jones mistakenly activates a trap that evokes some sort of projection. “Once I had another name,” the projection tells the team. “But ‘The Ice King’ is how I’m known, and he serves quite well.” The screening continues to tell them how he brought his palace to Reality Zero after being forced to turn on his former allies. He intended to sleep in ice forever; however, he was awakened when the Zero Shard hit Fortnite Island. “As the ice was melting, I woke up and saw the danger,” says the projection again. “From my dungeons the prisoner – my former ally turned enemy – escaped. I fought him, trying to keep him from unleashing even worse dangers. I failed.”
Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War is the penultimate chapter of the Marvel Fortnite crossover. As Spider-Man’s team chases after the Zero Shard, Iron Man also works with several Fortnite characters to fix broken technology for a group of resistance fighters known as the Seven. The synopsis for Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War #4 reads: “The most dangerous person in the Marvel Universe has teamed up with some of the most dangerous people in the Fortnite universe. But what does Doom really want? And how far will he go to get it?”
Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War #4 features covers by Leinil Francis Yu and Sunny Gho and variant covers by Jen Bartel, Stephanie Hans, Kael Ngu, Phil Noto, Ron Lim, and Israel Silva. The issue goes on sale August 31 from Marvel.
