Elvis Presley went by many nicknames throughout his 42 years on Earth, largely due to the fact that he was one of the singular pop culture icons and singers of the 20th century. His life story and provocative dance moves have been immortalized many times in film and television, and this year audiences will be treated to a new biopic titled Elviswith Austin Butler and Tom Hanks.
When Elvis fans enter theaters on June 24, 2022, they’ll witness a new incarnation of The King via California native Austin Butler. Realized by red Mill director Baz Luhrmann, Elvis will tell the story of Presley from his childhood in Mississippi to his fame as a singer and movie star. The film will also explore the complicated relationship Presley had with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks), as well as Presley’s death. mother Gladys heart failure when Elvis was 23. Audiences may not yet know Austin Butler by name, but they may recognize his performances in hit TV and film projects. Butler’s career began with stints on the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana with Miley Cyrus, as well as appearing in the Nickelodeon series Zoe 101 with Jamie Lynn Spears.
