‘The Woman King’, ‘The Son’, ‘Bros’ among Zurich 2022 galas | New

The Zurich Film Festival (ZFF, September 22 – October 2) has unveiled its Gala Premieres for 2022 and the line-up includes Gina Prince-Bythewood The female kingFlorian Zeller The son and Nicholas Stoller Brothers.

The historical drama of Prince-Bythewood stars Viola Davis as the leader of the all-female African army who fought against European settlers to protect their kingdom. The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF, September 8-18).

Stoller’s gay rom-com starring Billy Eichner, who co-wrote the screenplay, and produced by Judd Apatow, is also coming to Zurich on the heels of its TIFF premiere.

Zeller follows up on his 2020 drama The father, which was also screened at ZFF, with The son about a teenager who decides he no longer wants to live with his mother, played by Laura Dern, and moves in with his father, Hugh Jackman’s character, instead. It will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival (August 31 – September 10) before Zurich.

Other titles from Venice, Jafar Panahi no bear and that of Bill Pohlad wild dreaming, are also included in the lineup alongside festival favorites Bodice and the world creation of Laurent Negre A forgotten man.
